Keeping the Commands

Being a believer and Christian we are supposed to keep God's commandments. Most Christians know them and keep them to the best of their ability. We know not to steal, kill, covet our neighbor, and honor our parents, which we learn from Exodus chapter 20. I would like to focus on God's first command and Jesus's last.

First we are commanded to not have any gods before our God, the God of Love.

Exodus 20:3

You shall have no other gods before me.

1 John 4:16

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is Love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.

Then we are told to love God, whom first loved us!

Mark 12:30

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul ad with all your mind and with all your strength.

1 John 4:19

We love because He first loved us.

Then lastly, Jesus commanded us to love one another during His Earthly experience.

John 13:34

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

In John 14:15

"If you love me, keep my commands.

1 John 3:23-24

23. And this is His command: to believe in the name of his son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. 24. The one who keeps God's commands lives in Him, and He in them. And this is how we know that He lives in us. We know it by the Spirit He gave us.
