The Good Shepherd!

There are so many example of how the Lord is our shepherd and how we should follow him! As sheep we can be lost, but He will leave the others to find us. As sheep we can need calm waters and green grass, and the good shepherd will provide. As sheep we always need guidance and direction in this life on Earth, and again the good shepherd will provide a roadmap for this journey!

In one of the most common verses referring to sheep, The 23 Psalm, the word says, The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me besides the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of shadow of death, I will not fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

This is one passage of scripture that can be confessed daily or made into a prayer for daily provision and protection. In the passage it says that, He maketh me lie down in green pastures, which means provision or food is provided easily for me. Who doesn't want to follow a shepherd that provides daily provision. Then it continues to say, He leadeth me besides the still waters, which means that our provisions will come with a certain calmness and peace. Sheep are easily startled and requires calm provisions or they will panic. We as sheep to the Lord don't have to panic or fret, because His provisions are easy. Then the word says, He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake; which means our journey's may look different, but the good shepherd will guide each of us on our individual journeys/paths and He will get the glory.

In Psalm 95:6-7 the word says, O come, let us worship and bow down: kneel before the Lord our maker. For He is our God; And we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. To day if ye will hear His voice.

As we hear the voice of the good shepherd we become His sheep that day after repentance! We can start to follow Him as our shepherd and we can be His sheep.

John 10:27 says, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

Back when shepherds were more common they would store their sheep in one area when traveling. The sheep never went with the wrong shepherd, because they knew the shepherds call and voice. It is needed to read our bible to become more familiar with the voice of the Lord, so we won't go astray.

John 10: 4-5, 7, 9 says, And when He putteth forth His own sheep, He goeth before them, and the sheep follow Him: for they know His voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Are you following the voice of the good shepherd? Or are you following your own voice? The voice of the good shepherd leads to the door which is Jesus, whom has prepared the way and our pasture!

John 10:14 says, I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

Then in 1 Peter 2:25 the word says, For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of our souls.

We were all lost before finding Christ, but we are now found and not going astray! We are now returned unto the good shepherd!

We should all be aware of whom we are following, also who we allow to follow us! The Lord is the only one we should be following as our shepherd! There are many witnesses, but they come by to witness of the good shepherd!
