Being Mindful of Whom We Entertain!
As the Holiday Season is coming up many people are getting invites to family and friends homes. Fellowship with other believers is always good and pleasant, but are we just entertaining with the righteous? Are we entertaining those that have bad influence on us? Here are a few scriptures to guide your fellowships going forward!
The word says in Luke 6:28 to bless and show kindness to those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
But that does not mean we have to entertain and fellowship with them! God is love and we are to walk in love with all, but letting people into our homes and place of peace is different!
Matthew 7:6 says, Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
We as believers have to be mindful what we give unto others, especially when it is giving of ourselves! Sinners do not treasure what believers treasure, and they do not hold what we as believers hold as holy!
1 Corinthians 15:33 says, Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
Proverbs 1:10 says, My son, if sinners entice thee, Consent thou not.
Do NOT consent to be part of those things that are NOT holy, just, pure, honest, goodness and other fruits of the holy spirit! Say no and sustain! Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost and we should treat it as such!
1 Corinthians 5:7 says, Get rid of the old "yeast" by removing this wicked person from among you. Then you will be like a fresh batch of dough made without yeast, which is what you really are. Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed for us.
A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump! Do not entertain and allow those that are not holy to corrupt your fresh batch that we receive by receiving the gift of Lamb!
2 Corinthians 6:14 says, Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
One should ask, what do I have in common with this person, when becoming friends or starting any relationship! The word says, Know no man in the flesh, but by the self-same spirit, which is the spirit of God! Ask yourself, are we equally yoked and would this individual persuade me to sin!
1 Corinthians 5:11 says, But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
Even if one proclaims to be your brother, but does not exercise the fruits of the spirit and continue in sin you do NOT have to even eat with that person! Do NOT be blinded by a person's words that you do not have decernment to know they are not of God's flock!
In 2 Timothy the 3rd chapter it speaks of the last days, and it says that men without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
You may even wonder why other treat you in a harsh way, and all you are doing is walking in love! The word says that in the last days they (sinners) will be despisers of those that are good! Just know that the Lord will fight our battles and vengeance is the Lord!
And one last scripture I leave with you is Titus 1:15-16 and it says, Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. They profess that they know God; but in works they deny Him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
Do not in these days be defiled and unbelieving! Have yeah not heard the word of God? Have yeah not seen wonders and miracles? Have yeah not received a measure of faith to believe in who we have not seen? The answers are yes we have! Receive Christ into your life, believe on Him and the Father, and entertain those that uplift you spiritually!
Then Ephesians 5: 7; 11-12 says, Be not ye therefore partakers with them. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
