Being a Child of God In 1 John 4:7 it says, beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. Then the 8th verse says he that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. And the NLT version of the 7th verse says, anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. So how can we show that we are His (God's) children? By walking in love and showing love! Romans 8:14:16 NLT 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. 16 For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God's children. In Galatians 5:22-23 the first fruit of the Spirit is love . Then in John 13:34 Jesus commanded, " A new command I give you: Love one another, As I have loved you, so you must love one another."
